Pirate Day! Disney sure knows how to make it special..

I had planned this special day for my kids for months! I was so excited for them because I knew they both would enjoy it to the fullest.. It was finally Sunday morning and we start getting ready to head on over to the Magic Kingdom.. While getting ready I realize that the phone had the message light blinking, I found it a bit strange so I stopped to listen to it...

WOW, it was a really great surprise!!

I called Melody over and she was so Happy to hear this special greeting, it made her day just a bit more special..

This was just the start of a wonderful day for her!

******************************************************************************* Question, why do little girl only think about being a Princess??

We had already done the Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique for her 3rd birthday and I wanted her to try something different. Everytime I would ask her about doing the Pirate League she would just say No, that is for boys! I finally decided I had to get something that would interest her in doing this. Found her a really pretty Pirate Dress and the second she saw it, she loved it! My baby girl was ready to become a Pirate Empress ;) I knew there was no way she can turn down a cute Pink Pirate dress! Here is the Pirate dress we both Loved from the second we saw it!

Off we go to the Magic Kingdom! We arrived at the park at about 9:30am and not only was the park pretty full BUT it was so very hot out at that time of the morning. We walked in and headed straight towards Adventureland..

Upon arrival you are given a sheet so that you can choose what pirate look/effect you want for yourself...

Melody choose the "Empress" look and Tristin choose the "Smokey-Eyed Jack" look.

You are then taken inside the plunder-filled pirate’s lair to get your pirate name..

First, you are asked to blow on two dice, one black and one white. Then these two dice are carefully placed in a treasure chest that was attached to a captain's wheel. You are then asked to spin the wheel several times. When finished, the dice are removed and they ask you for your birthday. They use your birthday and your dice numbers to give you your pirate name.

Tristin is now -----> Jaime Keelkidd

Melody is now -----> Rose Bilgerat

You are then whisked away to the "Muster Station" where the whole transformation begins.. While waiting a few minutes inside they called for Rose Bilgerat, we then met her trainer Dylan and was taken to be seated.. She was so very excited!

When she first sat down.

Here he is making her comfortable..

The moment she sat down they put on her pirate tattoo, then had her pick out a nail polish color.. Her choices were Red or Black..

Can you guess what color she choose? She choose RED!

While we were enjoying her makeover they called for Jaime Keelkidd.

He was beyond thrilled!! Here he is with his trainer, Nick.

Rose getting her hair done.

It was time for Jaime to get his hair clipped back and for the make-up process to begin.

Getting his hair clipped back to start the make-up process.

Getting his Smokey -Eyes.

Make-up time :)

Soon after Jaime got his scar they started adding a nice 12 o'clock shadow..

She was enjoying her makeover..

Jaime then got his reversable bandana, earring, pirates booty bag with his false teeth in it and he pledged allegiance to Captain Jack and took the Pirate’s Oath.. The second he was finished the pirates rang the bell and announced, “We have a new pirate” which everyone cheered!!!

Here is Rose in her finishing stages...

The final picture of both kids..... ARRRGH!

This was actually a whole lot of fun..

Right, after they are done with the make-over they are escorted to another Pirate who gave them the Pirate League sash and sword. With the sword came a command that they were not to slash, poke, jab, prod, slice, cut, or carve any siblings, parents, strangers, birds, animals, or Disney property. After agreeing to this condition, they are asked if they’d like to see Captain Jack’s secret treasure room with the condition that they would not take any pictures or ever reveal what took place inside this inner sanctum.

So if you want to know, you’ll have to become part of Jack’s crew.

Once you are done inside the hidden room, you check through a special peephole on the door to see if the coast is clear. Once you look and see it's clear you head out towards the counter, where children sign the pirate book with either pirate or real name. You are then given a packet complete with pirate’s oath, pirate’s name and you can choose to purchase the pirate photo..

The Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique is cute and glamorous but the Pirate League is definitely more interactive and really a fun “experience” that goes on even after the session is over.

Reservations for Pirates League are strongly suggested. They can be made 90 days in advance by calling 407-WDW-CREW (939-2739). A credit card is needed at this time to secure the reservation, but is not charged until the actual event.
