Pirate Day! Disney sure knows how to make it special..

I had planned this special day for my kids for months! I was so excited for them because I knew they both would enjoy it to the fullest.. It was finally Sunday morning and we start getting ready to head on over to the Magic Kingdom.. While getting ready I realize that the phone had the message light blinking, I found it a bit strange so I stopped to listen to it...

WOW, it was a really great surprise!!

I called Melody over and she was so Happy to hear this special greeting, it made her day just a bit more special..

This was just the start of a wonderful day for her!

******************************************************************************* Question, why do little girl only think about being a Princess??

We had already done the Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique for her 3rd birthday and I wanted her to try something different. Everytime I would ask her about doing the Pirate League she would just say No, that is for boys! I finally decided I had to get something that would interest her in doing this. Found her a really pretty Pirate Dress and the second she saw it, she loved it! My baby girl was ready to become a Pirate Empress ;) I knew there was no way she can turn down a cute Pink Pirate dress! Here is the Pirate dress we both Loved from the second we saw it!

Off we go to the Magic Kingdom! We arrived at the park at about 9:30am and not only was the park pretty full BUT it was so very hot out at that time of the morning. We walked in and headed straight towards Adventureland..

Upon arrival you are given a sheet so that you can choose what pirate look/effect you want for yourself...

Melody choose the "Empress" look and Tristin choose the "Smokey-Eyed Jack" look.

You are then taken inside the plunder-filled pirate’s lair to get your pirate name..

First, you are asked to blow on two dice, one black and one white. Then these two dice are carefully placed in a treasure chest that was attached to a captain's wheel. You are then asked to spin the wheel several times. When finished, the dice are removed and they ask you for your birthday. They use your birthday and your dice numbers to give you your pirate name.

Tristin is now -----> Jaime Keelkidd

Melody is now -----> Rose Bilgerat

You are then whisked away to the "Muster Station" where the whole transformation begins.. While waiting a few minutes inside they called for Rose Bilgerat, we then met her trainer Dylan and was taken to be seated.. She was so very excited!

When she first sat down.

Here he is making her comfortable..

The moment she sat down they put on her pirate tattoo, then had her pick out a nail polish color.. Her choices were Red or Black..

Can you guess what color she choose? She choose RED!

While we were enjoying her makeover they called for Jaime Keelkidd.

He was beyond thrilled!! Here he is with his trainer, Nick.

Rose getting her hair done.

It was time for Jaime to get his hair clipped back and for the make-up process to begin.

Getting his hair clipped back to start the make-up process.

Getting his Smokey -Eyes.

Make-up time :)

Soon after Jaime got his scar they started adding a nice 12 o'clock shadow..

She was enjoying her makeover..

Jaime then got his reversable bandana, earring, pirates booty bag with his false teeth in it and he pledged allegiance to Captain Jack and took the Pirate’s Oath.. The second he was finished the pirates rang the bell and announced, “We have a new pirate” which everyone cheered!!!

Here is Rose in her finishing stages...

The final picture of both kids..... ARRRGH!

This was actually a whole lot of fun..

Right, after they are done with the make-over they are escorted to another Pirate who gave them the Pirate League sash and sword. With the sword came a command that they were not to slash, poke, jab, prod, slice, cut, or carve any siblings, parents, strangers, birds, animals, or Disney property. After agreeing to this condition, they are asked if they’d like to see Captain Jack’s secret treasure room with the condition that they would not take any pictures or ever reveal what took place inside this inner sanctum.

So if you want to know, you’ll have to become part of Jack’s crew.

Once you are done inside the hidden room, you check through a special peephole on the door to see if the coast is clear. Once you look and see it's clear you head out towards the counter, where children sign the pirate book with either pirate or real name. You are then given a packet complete with pirate’s oath, pirate’s name and you can choose to purchase the pirate photo..

The Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique is cute and glamorous but the Pirate League is definitely more interactive and really a fun “experience” that goes on even after the session is over.

Reservations for Pirates League are strongly suggested. They can be made 90 days in advance by calling 407-WDW-CREW (939-2739). A credit card is needed at this time to secure the reservation, but is not charged until the actual event.

Water Park Hotel & Under The Sea Cake :D

We woke up at about 9:00 AM to get ready for an amazing day of water fun...

Orlando just got another water park hotel.. CoCo Key Water Resort is the Largest Canopy Covered and Outdoor Water Resort in Orlando. CoCo Key combines the relaxation and enchantment of the islands with the wild excitement of over 62,000-sq. ft. of waterpark fun.

We were so excited to stay here, the hotel has just been open for 3 weeks and 2 days... Here is a view of the inside of our room..

This is the bathroom area

This room has 2 double beds.. Love the beach ball pillow :)

We went out to explore the hotel since the water park opens at 11:00 AM.. They have this real awesome Arcade Room filled with state-of-the-art video games. The arcade room has the latest and most popular video games for all ages plus they even have some bowling..

For the little ones!

Air Hockey

Haunted Mansion Game

That is just a small portion of games at the arcade. Then right next to the arcade room is the food court which has Callaloo Grill, Pizza Hut Express and TradeWinds Restaurant.. Outside for the Big Kids they have the Wet Rooster Bar..

We headed back towards our room because Mikkel had arrived with the cake.
I was so excited to see it!

The cake was PERFECT! Every little detail was amazing.. My daughter is a HUGE fan of the little mermaid and she was thrilled to see a fishy that looks like "Flounder" on her cake.. Her work is amazing and the cakes taste so good.

Last years Cake

Here is our annual picture with Mikkel 2010

You will be very Happy :) you did.

We said goodbye to Mikkel since she had to go back to work and we hit the water park..

Here is Melody with CoCo the hotel mascot.. She was thrilled to actually see the parrot in person.

Both kids with CoCo :D

Melody made a new friend, meet Kyle.

They would not go down the slide without eachother...

Hello

Here is Minnow Lagoon this is for the littlest ones with a zero-depth entry, mushroomy water features, soaker cannons and milder slides. It’s under a canopy, which is a great break from the sun..

This is the second area, has a deeper pool with Cyclone slide 48" height requirement. It's a fun section and you are still covered by the large canopy..

Now we have the main playground or as they call it the jungle gym. This section has slides for all the younger children or the older kids too.. Featuring a zero depth entry PLUS a 400 gallon bucket of tipping water fun! The Height Requirement for this section is 36” and 40”.

These are for the kiddies

If your child is scared of tall slides some of these may not be good for them..

This blue slide is a tube slide and it's dark so Melody did not like it at all!!

Then there was the yellow one, she seemed to like..

The Green was fun for her too!!

I noticed that open slides may be the way to go if you would like your little one to go down bigger water slides.. The tube ones are just too scary for those little hearts..

Here is Dad with his little Princess!

Now the following section is more for older kids, teens and or adults..
This section has 3 different rides with 3 different height requirements, one of the rides you must be atleast 48" to ride.

The Blue and Orange slide is called "Over the Falls" and it's a tube slide. This ride is very fast and dark.. I got out of that slide dizzy, LOL it was pretty cool but very fast.. The height requirement is 40" but I think the ride is too intense for a small child..

The yellow slide "Surfer Splash" is a single or double tube slide that is super fun. Height requirement for this is 42" to ride.. Ray and Tristin got on together and I got on with Melody :)

The following slide is the red and white slide called "Boomerango" which the two-person tubes leave the tower, go up a ramp, experience a sense of weightlessness before sliding back this way.. Height for this is 48"

By the way that is Tristin and I all the way up there, LOL!

My birthday girl getting a BIG hug..

The water park was lots of fun and it was something new but the hotel has a lot of growing up to do. The hotel itself is not running smoothly as it should be but let's just say they are in the beginning stages, so we will cut them some slack.. I had a lot of issues with them so I will not say it was a GREAT experience but we will go again and see if they worked out those issues... If all good on our second run to them, I will be planning one of the kids Birthday Parties next year at this location..

Time to Celebrate in Orlando!!!

As usual we are off to a late start..

I decided that if we had to get on the road late, I was going to make dinner at home.

At about 7:30 PM we sat down for some steak fajitas, that were really tasty. I made sure we had everything packed and next to the door so that once we were done eating my husband would load the car while I did the dishes..

We finally got on the Florida Turnpike at about 8:45 pm and we stopped once just to stretch our legs and use the bathroom.. The kids slept pretty much the entire way while I played on the IPhone to keep myself awake. We finally arrived in Orlando at our first destination at about 1:00 AM and checked in. It was late we were tired and I already had one HUGE complain... Why would you put 2 adults with 2 small kids by the adult pool instead of the kids pool??

I called the front desk and after a few minutes got my new room...

It was late but we knew we had a good room for the morning ;) just by looking out my window..

We walked in and found these cute guys on the counter :D

Here is what Daddy did while I started getting everything ready for the kids to shower and go to bed..

Here is what my son looked like 10 minutes after his shower.

Here is what Melody looked like 11 minutes after her shower, she had lots of energy!

Finally both kids went to bed and I finished getting things ready for the next day. We were already set for a late checkout so all I had to do was shower and bed..
