I am so happy the 2 days of testing are done!
Now we must wait to find out the results for about a week or so and I can only pray that he did well.
Today he got another HOMEWORK PASS!
The "homework pass" is a paper given by the school that the kids can use anyday to skip on doing homework. He got one on the April 16 and one today.
Teacher said he has been working hard in class and has had great behavior.
So today he was awarded with another homework pass and a signed Randal Hill football card.. He was very excited and I think he deserves a reward on our end too..
Humm, what to get him???
He has wanted a Jolly Roger T-shirt where to find the perfect kid friendly Jolly Roger's shirt... Time to search ;)

My son has 2 days of testing!!
My 8 year old son is getting ready to take his Stanford Diagnostic Test
on April 28 and 29 so I have been getting him ready..
It is important to get them into bed early and give them a nice breakfast.
I have read that Breakfast leads to higher test scores :)
A study published in 1998 in the Archives of Pediatrics and Adolescent Medicine showed significantly higher math test scores after children ate breakfast. This and other research has clearly shown that children who consistently eat breakfast test higher in most academic areas.
Brain Food For Kids:
The brain needs a lot of energy to maintain focus on a big test for several hours. Eat a hearty and healthy breakfast, including complex carbohydrates and protein to make your energy last as long as possible. Foods such as eggs, cereal and whole-wheat toast help energize your brain to think more clearly and much longer compared with the fast-disappearing bolt of energy from drinking a soda pop or eating a cookie for breakfast. For a snack food, bring simple foods such as peanut butter and crackers, cheese and crackers or a burrito to sustain energy until lunch.
Here are a few great breakfast recipe idea's that my son LOVES.
Spinach-Cheese Omelet
4 eggs or 1 cup refrigerated or frozen egg product, thawed
Dash salt
Dash cayenne pepper (optional)
1/4 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese (1 ounce)
1 tablespoon snipped fresh chives
1 tablespoon parsley
1 cup spinach leaves
1 recipe Red Pepper Relish
Directions
1. Lightly coat an 8-inch nonstick skillet with flared sides or a crepe pan with cooking spray. Heat skillet over medium-high heat.
2. In a medium bowl beat together eggs, salt, and cayenne pepper (optional) with a rotary beater or wire whisk until frothy. Pour into the prepared skillet; cook over medium heat. As egg mixture sets, run a spatula around edge of skillet, lifting egg mixture so that the uncooked portion flows underneath.
3. Continue cooking and lifting edges until egg mixture is set but is still glossy and moist. Sprinkle with cheese and chives. Top with 3/4 cup of the spinach and 2 tablespoons of the Red Pepper Relish. Using the spatula, lift and fold an edge of the omelet partially over filling. Top with the remaining 1/4 cup spinach and 1 tablespoon of the relish. (Reserve the remaining relish for another use.) Cut the omelet in half. Makes 2 servings.
Red Pepper Relish: In a small bowl combine 2/3 cup chopped red sweet pepper, 2 tablespoons finely chopped onion, 1 tablespoon cider vinegar, and 1/4 teaspoon black pepper. Makes about 2/3 cup.
Breakfast Burrito Wraps
4 eggs
1/4 cup milk
1/4 teaspoon salt
Dash ground black pepper
1 tablespoon snipped fresh cilantro (optional)
1 tablespoon butter or margarine
4 strips bacon, crisp-cooked, drained, and crumbled
1/4 cup sliced green onion (2)
4 8-inch flour tortillas
1/2 cup shredded Monterey Jack cheese or Monterey Jack cheese with jalapeno peppers (2 ounces)
Salsa (optional)
Directions
1. In a medium bowl beat together eggs, milk, salt, and pepper with a wire whisk or fork. If desired, stir in cilantro. In a 10-inch skillet melt butter over medium heat; pour in egg mixture. Cook, without stirring, until mixture begins to set on the bottom and around the edges. With a spatula or large spoon, lift and fold the partially cooked egg mixture so that the uncooked portion flows underneath. Stir in bacon and green onion. Continue cooking over medium heat for 2 to 3 minutes or until egg mixture is cooked through, but is still glossy and moist. Remove from heat immediately.
2. Meanwhile, warm the tortillas according to package directions. Divide egg mixture among tortillas. Sprinkle with cheese. If desired, top with salsa. Fold bottom edge of each tortilla over the egg mixture. Fold in the sides. Makes 4 burrito wraps.
3. Ham and Artichoke Burrito: Prepare as above except omit the salsa. Substitute 1 tablespoon snipped fresh Italian parsley for the cilantro; 2 ounces chopped cooked ham or prosciutto for the bacon; one 6-ounce jar marinated artichoke hearts, drained and chopped, for the green onions; and 2 ounces Havarti cheese, shredded, for the Monterey Jack cheese.
4. Salami and Provolone Burritos: Prepare as above except omit the salsa. Add 1 tablespoon snipped fresh basil in place of the cilantro. Add 2 ounces chopped salami in place of the bacon; 1/2 cup roasted red sweet peppers, drained and chopped, in place of the green onions; and 2 ounces provolone cheese, shredded, in place of the Monterey Jack cheese.
5. Turkey and Smoked Cheddar Burrito: Prepare as above except omit the green onion. Substitute 1 tablespoon snipped fresh parsley for the cilantro; 4 ounces shredded cooked turkey or chicken for the bacon; and 2 ounces smoked cheddar cheese, shredded, for the Monterey Jack cheese. To assemble, divide 1 cup fresh baby spinach among tortillas; add egg mixture. If desired, top with salsa.
If you do not have a lot of time, this is always a winner at my house.

Vista View Park!!
Today I took care of my godson so his parents could go out to a "Miami Heat" game. After about two hours at my house we decided to take the kids out for a day of play. We packed the car and the kids and hit this new park.
At 272 acres of green rolling hills and meadows, Vista View offers a wide range of activities. Eight different picnic shelters offer plenty of room for family picnicking. Other amenities include 2 playgrounds, basketball courts, boat rentals, equestrian corral, an airstrip for electric radio-controlled plane and glider pilots, fishing docks and an area for primitive group camping. In addition, outdoor enthusiasts have been attracted to the park for its athletic challenges. The hills and fitness trail have become a training ground for many sporting activities.
The park has some really nice picnic shelters complete with picnic tables, a grill, and electric outlets. These can be reserved on weekends for parties. Other picnic areas located in the park without shelters are on a first come first served basis. They have these really nice playgrounds, both playgrounds are covered with shade canopies and offer many different types of play apparatus. The larger playground is a Universal Access playground which can be utilized by all different levels of ability. The playground, named Caitlyn’s Corral, is in memory of Caitlyn Munson and dedicated to all children who play there. This park is really nice and it is great for all children but I noticed the little ones "under 5" have lots to do there! I am starting to think that if my husband gets me a bike, I may try to start working out there. They have great paved pathways for walking, running, rollerblading, or recreational cycling. They also have great hills which make it the perfect place for cycling or running that is one thing you may not be able to do anywhere else in South Florida.
This place is really nice and the kids really enjoyed it.

Got order number one, three more to go :D
April 22, 2010 is "Take Your Child to Work Day" That is a day that encourages girls and boys to learn more about the workplace and career alternatives without gender limitations, as well as to view the important connections among family, work and the community. Any child, regardless of gender, between the ages of 8 and 18, is eligible to participate. Take Your Child to Work Day is a District approved field trip and is not be considered an absence.
I kept my son and that was a whole lot of work.. It is hard to have an 8 year old focused for so many hours but we had a nice time together.
On another note Melody has had two great days at school with NO Crying! I am very proud of her and this weekend her homework project is to draw a picture of a nature walk, not sure how that will turn out..
Today after dropping her off at school I went to Starbucks. When I walked out I realized her class was outside in the playground so when I went by this is how I saw her :)
Wonder what they are looking at..??
----------------------------------------->
I have been getting ready for her Birthday and I ordered a few things for her. Today I got one of the orders and I am totally in love with it!
It is so pretty and the hair "clippie" as she calls them is adorable.. The lady I ordered from was amazing! Kim got back to me within 2 hours after I ordered. She sent me the package 2 days after my order was placed and when it arrived it was perfect in everyway.
Her size was perfect, The dress looks amazing, The hair clip is so pretty.. Everything about this order is perfect!
Thanks Kim @ http://www.kimskreativebowtique.etsy.com/

Planning a School Party...
I asked Melody a few months back if she wanted a birthday party, she answered "No I wanna go to Disney World" so we started planning a weekend getaway.
Only 3 weeks before her birthday and now she wants a party.
I am now thinking of ways to throw her a birthday party, so what better way than to do a party at her preschool!
Time to plan and save money so I was thinking 24 cupcakes, 4 packs of Capri Sun, and chips for the kids.
I went to the Dollar Store today and found these awesome bags to use as goodie bags. Each pack contains 15 bags and they are PERFECT! I picked out the Princess ones but they had Tinkerbell plus I saw they had Cars for boys too.
Each bag will contain Fruit Roll-Up or Fruit Snacks Bag, Individual Bags of Goldfish, Play Doh, Box of Crayons, stickers and a pencil.. Just a little something for the kids to take home =D

Red Hair Headband to the Rescue...
It's been 2 days of no crying, I am so happy!
We woke up to a very pretty Tuesday morning.
I dropped off the honey and then it was time to drop off the kids..
When getting towards the school I realize none of the kids have on the school uniforms. I found it strange since Friday they usually have "dress down" day and today was Tuesday. I questioned my son and he reminds me that today is Spring Picture day, SPRING PICTURE DAY!!!!!
I was so upset but I realized that only a few weeks ago we did a professional Easter pictures and well, why spend the extra money.
I gave him my usual hug, kiss and wished him a good day at school.
I then drove off and headed towards the preschool, I dread this moment every morning. While turning into the parking lot she asked if she could wear her "Ariel Hair" to show her friend Alyssa. Well, Alyssa was not at school yesterday so she didn't get to see the cool hair ;) and in my mind all I was hoping for were no tears. We walked into the school and she went straight to see Alyssa and guess what, NO TEARS!
Woot Woot!! Second day in a row and I left there with her red hair in one hand and a happy heart. It feels so good to leave and just remember the smile she had on her face.
It really feels so GOOD :)

Yuck a rainy Monday :(
Okay so we woke up today to more rain :(
I got up at about 7:20am to make lunch for my husband..
Then got Tristin up and in the bathroom, while Tristin was brushing his teeth it was time to get Melody up and out of bed. This part today was a mission especially with the dark gloomy day outside. I finally got Melody up and dressed then finished up and got out the house.
My usually morning's consists of driving three different people to three different locations. Then I stay close to my daughter's preschool because she only goes to school for a 3 hours preschool program. I don't live close to the school so it is not worth it for me to go back home. During this time I either run errands or go to a free WiFi spot.
Yes, my daily routine totally SUCKS!!
I need to also make you aware that my daughter cries almost every morning since she started preschool.. She started on August 24, 2009 and cried every single morning till about mid November. Then every time they go on a break or have a day off, we go back to crying. It's not easy dealing with that because it honestly breaks my heart!
Today being Monday I tried a little something to make it easy on her and me. I let her bring down this red hair headband that I got her
over the weekend at the dollar store. She wanted her friends to see it and her teacher's so I let her wear it into the school building.
Once she walked in and all the kids made a comment she forgot all about me. I walked up to her and took it off but she was full of kids talking to her and asking questions that she forgot I was about to walk out.. It worked! I was so happy to walk out and not see her tears flow down her face. It felt good to give her a kiss and walk out to peace and quite, not a yelling and crying little girl saying how much she loves you.
While waiting for her to get out of school, I searched the Internet for things she has requested for her birthday.
She wants these hair clips of Disney Princess's "Ariel" is the one she mostly wants so a friend told me she had a friend who made them,
I am now waiting on her response before I move forward on purchasing them.
Other than that I picked up my daughter and they made me aware she had a good day at school. Teacher said she was writing number 5 with no broken lines nor help from anyone.. I am happy because she did not like to color or write.
My daughter has been having lots of trouble with school but I think she finally understanding the concept..
Last week she had a project about bugs so we worked together and picked out a total of 9 bugs (caterpillar, ladybug, butterfly, cricket, stick bug, widow spider, mantis bug, ant, grasshopper) to put on our display.
I spoke to her about each bug as we cut and pasted them on the black cardboard paper and she seemed excited. I questioned her before bed and she seemed to understand about each bug a bit more. The morning the project was due she got up and ready for school, grabbed her cardboard paper and held it in her hand the entire car ride to school. I dropped her off and wished her luck with a great big hug and kiss..
When I picked her up that afternoon the teacher stopped me at the door and told me that I would be very proud of her. The exact words were " when she takes control of something she loves, she is a true leader" as a mother I was so proud..
I was proud to hear that my daughter took control of her project and at 4 years old she was asked "if you were a bug what bug would you be?" she replied "a Beautiful Butterfly so that I can spread my big colorful wings" my daughter said that in front of the class? I was happy and hope that she continues to blossom at school.

Need to start somewhere..
In conversation with my husband today he realized that everything I talk about relates to our children..
Umm, are you serious?? I talk about nothing else? I figured I should go ahead and blog about the things
I do with the kids and the things the kids do that can drive a mom insane!!
I must admit they keep me on my toes.
I am going to start this blog as a venting place but I am sure it will end up giving you ideas on what to do
or not to do with your little ones... I learn something different everyday with either my son or my daughter..
Guess, I got the best from both worlds by having one of each!
Today the day has been none stop rain.. We woke up at about 10:30 am and let me tell you
the day has been horrible! On a rainy day like today when your kids can't even step a foot outside, what do most
parents do to entertain the kids??
I cooked the breakfast they wanted of:
Scrambled Eggs with Ham, Onions and Cheese on a roll plus some homemade potatoes.
I then cleaned up the table with my daughter so that I can give her something to do.
We cuddled up and watched some cartoons but after an hour they got bored..
That means that by now we have played with toys, had lunch, played video games, punished at least one of them
once or maybe even twice and yet it's still pouring outside... Ahhhhh what is a mom suppose to do?
